Dubai: Three Ghanaians arrested for marijuana trafficking; one jailed 10 years- Details

The government of Dubai has apprehended three Ghanaians over the marijuana trafficking into the United Arabs Emirates.

According to an official statement from the Consulate General of the Republic of Ghana to Ghanaians in Dubai, the three individuals were arrested at the Dubai International Airport upon their arrival into the country.

The consulate revealed that between January to March 2021, five Ghanaians have been arrested by officials of the Dubai Immigration Service- all with regards to their role in trafficking marijuana into the country.

The consulate further stated that all the parcels which contained the marijuana were given to them by their agent in Ghana who aided them in acquiring their visa for their travel into the Arabian country.

Addressing the Ghanaian community in Dubai, the consulate general of Ghana intimated that out of the five people apprehended by the Dubai immigration service.

In light of this development, the consulate called on every Ghanaian in the region to advise their fellows who are bound to come to the country to avoid taking parcels from Ghanaians in Ghana.
