In an exclusive interview with Nortey Dua on Joy FM’s Ultimate Health show, Mr Wise Letsa argued that although garlic has proven to have anti-inflammatory benefits and helps blood flow more easily through the body, it doesn’t completely cure hypertension.
According to him, to control hypertension one must develop a healthy diet thus eating the right food at the right time and at the right quantity.
He further stated that in developing a healthy diet, one can add garlic “as part of the spices you use for stew, soup and all.”
“There is no point in taking garlic to sort of cure your hypertension. You need a healthy diet. Garlic can be part of your spices that you use. Actually, we advise people to depend on natural spices rather than artificial ones like cubes, which contains a lot of sodium.
“So you can use garlic as part of the spices you use for stew, soup and all that but it is not a cure for hypertension as people presume.”

He added that modern studies have made it easy for people living in such conditions to live for long.
“These days dieting for these conditions is not really about avoiding whole foods. It is about eating the right food, the right quantity, and at the right time.”
On the issue of diabetes, the astute dietician indicated that the intake of sugar does not cause diabetes.
He argued that the inability of the body system to process and use up the end product of energy-giving foods is what amounts to diabetes.
