Coupled with lots of controversies during his reign, US President Donald Trump has bid his farewell in what is his final address before leaving office as President of the United States.
Addressing the entire citizenry of the US, Donald Trump said: “We did what we came to do – and so much more.”
In a video posted on YouTube, he said: “I took on the tough battles, the hardest fights, the most difficult choices because that’s what you elected me to do.”
Donald Trump indicated that his administration built “the greatest economy in the history of the world”.
Speaking on violence that recently broke out in the country after a mob of his supporters stormed the US Congress, seeking to overturn the election result at Capitol Hill, Mr Trump said, “Political violence is an attack on everything we cherish as Americans. It can never be tolerated.”
Despite not fully in agreement with the outcome of the just-ended elections which he lost to former Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, the Democratic Party flagbearer will be sworn in as president on Wednesday, January 20.
The last two weeks of Mr Trump’s term have been dominated by the fallouts as he walks out of office as the first president in US history to be impeached twice.
At his first trial, he was cleared on charges relating to dealings with Ukraine by the majority from his own Republican Party.
The politically motivated violence has overshadowed the growing toll from the coronavirus pandemic, in which more than 400,000 Americans have died and 24 million have been infected.
