American international footballer, Weston McKennie who currently plays for Turin based club Juventus has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
News of his contraction comes off a day after 3 time Ballon d’Or winner and Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo tested positive for the virus.
Confirming the news of McKennie’s contraction, Juventus via the club’s website said, “During the checks provided for by the protocol in force, the player Weston McKennie has tested positive for Covid 19.
“In compliance with the regulations and the protocol, the team entered into fiduciary isolation this evening. This procedure will allow all persons negative to the controls to carry out regular training and match activities, but will not allow contact with people outside of the group.”
In light of this, Weston McKennie will miss Juventus’ Serie A match against FC Crotone this weekend, as well as their Champions League group stage opener against Dynamo Kiev on October 20.
